Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes

So the cat is out of the bag today. Really out, actually. It's not only just out of the bag, it's out of the house. The cat is so out, it went down the street, ran around the block twenty times then took a plane across the country.
Everyone knows Mike's leaving now. He told us all of us at Delicious Monster early last week, almost two weeks ago now (and seeing as he's already heading out of town next week, I guess he's pretty much taking "two weeks notice" literally!). In fact, a lot of my thoughts from the previous post were written as reflection on knowing he was leaving (I'm sure that adds an interesting twist if you had read it before and re-read it now). One thing is for sure: Mike will only bring more good to a company already overflowing with it. I wish him and the entire team at Apple the best with their work on Mac OS X.
The big question right now for everyone is: what does this mean? What's next? The good news is that for Delicious Monster, in the short term it means nothing. Mike's been the brains behind the past and present designs of Delicious Library, but the great part is he's also already been the brains behind the FUTURE version as well! We already have version 2 of Delicious Library completely designed and we've even already begun weaving it into the world of existence. So the next version of Delicious Library will still be largely contributed by Mike, even though he silently closes the door and exits this early in the development.
Certainly I can't sit here with a straight face and say that Mike leaving has no effect on the company though, and that's not the impression I'm trying to make at all. Mike will be greatly missed.
But what of the rest of us? Wil's set in stone with his resolve: Delicious Monster will continue rain or shine. He not only has plans to carry out version 2, but sees a bright future ahead even beyond the horizon of the foreseeable future.
I have a lot of thinking to do given this new sudden turn-of-events. I'm playing this out day by day and looking forward to continuing to work on awesome new stuff in the future. There's a lot of work to do and I'm keeping focused on that. I want to keep doing the things I love, creating cool software. The best way to do that is to work with a talented team of enthusiastic people who share the same dream.

Ever since I came across 'Delicious Monster', I have to admit that it's by far one of the most amazing applications ever.
I can't even imagine how you guys must be feeling after seeing someone so talented migrate to another company. I'm sure all of you will go on and perform great things, with Mike in mind. I'm looking forward to future applications from all of you.
